DIE PUNTESTELSEL

INLEIDING

Die gedragskode, wat reëls aangaande skoolsake, kleredrag, persoonlike voorkoms, asook die dissiplinêre reëls en strawwe vervat, se hoofdoel is die vasstelling en bevordering van ‘n standaard wat die skool wil daarstel om sy missie uit te voer en om selfdissipline by die leerders van die skool te kweek.
 

MISSIE

“Hierdie opvoedkundige instansie wend toekomsgerigte kundiges aan om
leerderpotensiaal te ontsluit en ontwikkel”.

Die gedragskode is so opgestel dat die gedrag van ‘n leerder in die skoolomgewing sodanig is, dat die akademiese ontwikkeling en prestasie so kan geskied dat elke leerder tot volle potensiaal kan ontwikkel in ‘n geordende struktuur.

Daar moet beklemtoon word dat die ontwikkeling van selfdissipline in ‘n leerder nie net die verantwoordelikheid van die skool is nie, maar wel grotendeels ‘n vennootskap tussen die ouer, gemeenskap en skool:” ’n kind is die produk van sy/haar omstandighede”.

Ons glo dat die puntestelsel die regverdigste manier sal wees om leerders, wat hulle nie by die reëls en gedragskode  hou nie, te straf, asook om die leerders wat wil werk, die nodige kwaliteitonderrig te kan gee.

Dit moet ook duidelik gestel word dat die puntestelsel nie gesien moet word as ‘n middel net om die negatiewe gedrag raak te sien nie, maar dat daar wel ook ander middels is om positiewe gedrag aan te meld, bv. die Dagboek.

Dit is dus nodig dat die leerder en die ouer, wat leiding aan sy kind moet gee, die stelsel moet onderskryf en hulle  daaraan onderwerp om sodoende te sorg dat die kind se belange en regte, asook dié met wie hy die skool deel, gerespekteer en beskerm word.
 

PROSEDURE :

A. Debiete

1.     Indien daar ‘n oortreding is, word dit deur die betrokke personeellid op die nodige
        vorm ingevul. Nadat die leerder die vorm self geteken het, word die vorm ingestuur
        sodat die nodige punte op die rekenaar afgetrek kan word. 

2.     ‘n Strafpunt (debiete) word aan ‘n sekere oortreding gekoppel.

3.     Die tipe oortreding bepaal dan ook die hoeveelheid wat afgetrek word. Vir ernstiger
        oortredings kan die betrokke leerder na die hoof of een van die adjunkhoofde
        gestuur word.

4.     Daar sal ten minste een keer per kwartaal ‘n staat uitgedruk word waarop al die
        oortredings verskyn en sal daarna aan die rapport / puntestaat vasgeheg word.

5.     Skooldiens moet verrig word om strafpunte te verminder.

6.     Die punte wat van ‘n leerder afgetrek word, sal op rekord gehou word.
 

GEVOLGE VAN VERSUIM OM STRAFPUNTE AF TE WERK:

1.     Die vorige jaar/jare se geakkumuleerde strafpunte bly op rekord.

2.     Daar word van leerders verwag om punte af te werk voordat –50 bereik word.  Die   veiligste is dus om onmiddellik skooldiens te verrig wanneer ‘n leerder strafpunte  kry.  Leerders moet self in hulle dagboek ‘n aantekening maak van strafpunte wat gehef word.  Skooldiens vind van Maandag tot Donderdag tussen 14:00 en 16:00 plaas.

3.     ‘n Leerder wat versuim om strafpunte bo 50 af te werk deur skooldiens te verrig, word op detensie op ‘n Vrydagmiddag geplaas, waartydens hy/sy 30 punte terugwerk.

4.     Leerders wat deelneem aan ‘n sportsoort sal nie toegelaat word om sport te beoefen totdat punte afgewerk is nie. Indien ‘n leerder skooldiens vanaf 14:00 - 16:00 op ‘n betrokke middag bygewoon het, mag hy wel direk daarna ‘n sportoefening bywoon.

5.     ‘n Hoë geakkummuleerde strafpunt kan tot gevolg hê dat ‘n leerder en sy/haar ouers voor die dissiplinêre komitee van die Beheerliggam verskyn. Hierdie is die laaste stap indien geen ander bemoeienis met die leerder geslaag het nie en kan tot die skorsing van so ‘n leerder lei.

6.     Leerders sal nie toegelaat word om ‘n lid van die Verteenwoordigende Leerderraad of Bestuurspan (prefek) te word indien ‘n leerder meer as 50 strafpunte het nie.

7.     ‘n Matrikulant wat meer as 50 strafpunte het, sal nie toegelaat word om die        matriekafskeid aan die einde van die jaar by te woon nie.

8.     ‘n Leerder sal nie ‘n sakkrul of kleurtoekenning ontvang indien hy/sy meer as        50 strafpunte het nie.  Sodra die leerder se punte deur skooldiens na minder as 50 afgewerk is, sal so ‘n leerder sy/haar toekenning ontvang.  Bewys hiervan moet in Kamer 2 afgehaal word.

9.     Leerders wat meer as 50 strafpunte geakkumuleer het, sal nie toegelaat word om  ‘n graadkamp (bv. graad-9 en 10-kampe) mee te maak nie.     

10.   ‘n Leerder wat ‘n beurs ontvang het se beurs kan teruggetrek word indien hy/sy        meer as 50 punte verloor het.

11.   Prestasietoekennings sal verbeur word indien ‘n leerder meer as 50 strafpunte het.

B.   Krediete (Belonings)

1.     Leerders kan positiewe punte (krediete ) verwerf soos uiteengesit in die kredietetabel.

2.     Indien ‘n leerder vir ‘n hele kwartaal geen strafpunte verloor nie, sal die leerder 20   positiewe punte verwerf.

3.     Positiewe punte sal op rekord gehou word.

4.    ‘n Leerder wat 100 positiewe punte verdien het, sal na bewys daarvan, aan die einde van die jaar met ‘n prestasietoekenning beloon word.

THE PENALTY SYSTEM

INTRODUCTION :

The Code of behaviour which covers school affairs,school uniforms, rules regarding
personal appearance, as well as disciplinary rules and punishment, has as its main aim the setting and promotion of a standard which will enable the school to fulfill its mission and to cultivate self-discipline amongst learners of the school.
 

MISSION:

“This educational institution utilizes future orientated experts to discover and
develop learners’ potential”.

The code of behaviour has been compiled in such a way that the learners’ behaviour in
the school environment provides the ideal situation for them to achieve their pinnacle and to develop to their full potential in an orderly structure.

It must be stressed that the development of self-discipline in a learner is not only the
responsibility of the school, but is mainly a partnership between parent, community and the school, since “a child is the product of his/her circumstances”.

We believe that the penalty system will enable us to punish learners who do not abide by the school rules and code of behaviour in general in a fair manner.  Learners who are prepared to work will then be provided with quality teaching.

We would like to emphasize that the penalty system should not only be regarded as a
means only to punish negative behaviour, but the diary also provides a means to record
positive behaviour.

It is thus necessary for the learner and the parent, who guides his child, to support the
system and subject themselves to it to ensure that the rights of the learner, as well as
those who share the school with him/her, are respected and protected.
 

PROCEDURE :

A. Debits

1.     If a learner transgresses, a form is completed by the teacher concerned. After the learner has signed the form, it is sent in to be processed on the computer.

2.     Penalty points (Debits) are allocated to certain transgressions.

3.     The type of transgression determines the number of points to be deducted. For more serious offences learners will be sent to one of the deputy principals or the principal.

4.     At least once per term a statement of all transgressions will be printed and attached to the
        report/mark sheet.

5.     A learner will have to do school service to decrease his/her penalty points.

6.     The number of points that have been deducted will be kept on record.

REPERCUSSIONS RESULTING FROM FAILURE TO REDEEM DEMERITS:

1.     The demerits accumulated over the previous year/years will remain on record.

2.     Learners are expected to be pro-active and to redeem their demerits before they reach a total of 50 demerits. The safest would be to do school service as soon as the demerits have been received. Learners must make a note in their diaries of demerits received. School service takes place from Monday to Thursday between 14:00 and 16:00.

3.     If a learner neglects to work their demerits off by doing school service they will be put on detention on a Friday afternoon.

4.    Learners who participate in a sport will not be allowed to do so until their demerits  have been redeemed. If a learner attends school service from 14:00 – 16:00 in the afternoon, he/she will be able to attend sport practice straight afterwards.

5.    A high total of accumulated demerits can result in the learner and his/her parents having to appear before the Governing Body’s Disciplinary Committee. This is a last resort measure if everything else has failed to elicit the learner’s co-operation                and it can lead to his/her expulsion.

6.    Learners who have more than 50 demerits will not be allowed to be an LRC (Learner Representative Council) member or may not become a member of the management team  (perfect).

7.    A matriculant who has more than 50 demerits will not be allowed to attend the matric farewell at the end of the year.

8.    A learner will not receive a scroll or colours if he/she has more than 50 demerits. As soon as the demerits have been redeemed, the learner will receive his/her award. Proof of this must be collected from Room 2.

9.    A learner who has more than 50 demerits will not be allowed to attend a grade camp  (e.g. Grade 9 and Grade 10 camp).

10. A learner who received a bursary may forfeit the bursary if he/she accumulates more than 50 demerits.

11. Achievement award will be forfeited if a learner has lost more than 50 demerits.

B. Credits(Rewards)

1.   Learners can earn positive points (credits), as explained in the credits table.

2.   If a learner does not have any demerits during an entire term, that learner will be rewarded with 20 positive points.

3.   A learner with positive points will be rewarded with the achievement rewards at the end of the year.

4.   These positive points will be kept on record.

Credits are handled by Mrs. L. Steenkamp.  Learners must go to Mrs. L. Steenkamp themselves and provide proof of achievements. Claims for positive points have to be finalised within a term.
